Gmail final release

Google has announced that its Apps Suite, which includes the likes of Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs and Google Talk, is finally set to shed its beta label.

Gmail in particular has carried its beta tag for more than five years, and it has been a bit of a head scratcher as to why seemingly finished programs have carried on as “betas” for so long.

While Google explains that the four applications have been running at or above the standards of other non-beta software for a while, they have never quite managed to drop their beta tag – until today.

Google OS

Google is set to release its own operating system – Google Chrome OS – a direct challenger to Microsoft Windows. The new operating system will build on the cloud computing smarts of Google Apps and is coming to desktops, laptops and netbooks in 2010.

This “Hack” can be used to enable Internet Tethering on your iPhone. Internet Tethering allows you to use your iPhone 3G connection on your laptop wherever you are, this gives you the possibility to use a laptop screen rather than the iPhone’s smaller screen.

A young man from China found a way to by pass the Tethering charges all phone companies are selling with a free profile download.

I have tried this, and works brilliantly, but I must warn you not to use this service with excessive youtube downloads or anything that you wouldn’t do on your iPhone as this will result in you being found out by your network company and result in disconnection of your contract and charges will be facing your way.

HTC Hero launches in UK

HTC Hero launches in UK

HTC has launched a brand spanking Android handset in the UK today, in the G1-esque shape of the Hero.

However, although it picks up the love-it-or-hate-it angled bottom of its predecessor, it boasts a much more slimline body due to no slide out keyboard.

We first heard about the Hero some time back in February, and after it was snapped up by Orange in France, there was some speculation as to whether the handset would ever reach UK shores.

But it has indeed made it, and comes packing a full 3.2-inch anti-fingerprint touchscreen, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, AGPS, digital compass and that all important 3.5mm headset jack.

Nokia and Intel teaming up?

Nokia and Intel teaming up?
Following rumours yesterday that Nokia had teamed up with chip makers Intel, the pair have now confirmed the partnership which they say will create a “new exciting industry”.

BBC is reporting that the companies have promised new mobile computing products, which they believe will “go far beyond devices and services on the market today”.

It was said that the partnership would revolve around a number of open-source mobile Linux software projects, but that it was too early to discuss exact products.

“We will talk about products when we are ready to talk about products,” said Intel senior vice president Anand Chandraseckher.

“With the convergence of the internet and mobility as the team’s only barrier, I can only imagine the innovation that will come out of our unique relationship with Nokia. The possibilities are endless.”
